Attention Apartment Communities that are 1978 and Older and Vendors that Service Them
The new federal Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting regulations went in to affect April 22, 2010. In addition to the regulations about lead paint disclosure that have been in affect for many years, the law now requires workers who do renovation, repairs or maintenance in pre-1978 housing to be trained and certified in the use of lead safe work practices. Residents must also be supplied with a pamphlet on lead hazard information before any service work is started and specific records regarding the work performed must be kept.
